“The smaller and more selfish I make myself, the more my fear. If a man thinks he is a little nothing, fear will surely come upon him. And the less you think of yourself an insignificant person, the less fear there will be for you.” — Swami Vivekananda
Wondering how you should believe in yourself? Here are a few different questions to consider.
Did Captain Shiva Chauhan ask, “Who am I to be the first woman army officer to get deployed at Siachen?” Did Dashrath Manjhi ask, “Who am I to dig a tunnel through a mountain with nothing but a hammer and chisel?” Did Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose ask, “Who am I to play an important role in the freedom fight against the Colonial rule?”
None of them set out to achieve what they eventually did. All they did was work towards a purpose with such conviction that tamas had no place. They even made Nature budge.
Captain Chauhan, Manjhi, and Netaji are no different from you. You have the same indomitable spirit as them. After all, your Self is linked with them—everything in this cosmos is.
Believe in yourself. Don’t let fear, selfishness, or ego get in your way. No matter how frightening the goal appears, remind yourself of what the Vedas teach: Me, the sword cannot cut, nor weapons pierce; me the fire cannot burn; me the air cannot dry; I am Omnipotent, I am Omniscient.
Nature will have no choice but to relent.
