The Only Karma Worth Working For

“Some Karma we have worked out already, some we are working out now in the present, and some are waiting to bear fruit in the future. The first kind is past and gone. The second we will have to work out, and it is only that which is waiting to bear fruit in the future that we can conquer and control, towards which end all of our forces should be directed.”

— Swami Vivekananda

The bad Karma you’ve experienced and are probably experiencing currently has resulted from your past deeds. Feeling sorry for yourself or getting upset over your current state is as useless as asking the wind to blow. That’s how karma works.

What’s useful is to accept responsibility for them by saying, “I’m getting what I deserve.” When you do, you will also take responsibility for your present actions and get what you deserve in the future. In effect, you will self-author your future karma.

Now that you know how karma works, choose to do good today. As MS Dhoni said, “Learn from the mistakes of the past and apply them in the present for a favorable future.”
