“’Our leaders are unable to give us a lead as they themselves are confused.’ The leader is created by the follower, by you, and since you yourself are confused, you can only create a confused leader.” — J. Krishnamurti
Politicians make populist policies rather than taking tough decisions for the greater good. Movies show our culture (and women) in poor light. The media creates clickbait news to rile us up instead of checking for facts. This is what we claim.
Ironically, straightforward politicians don’t get re-elected, movies with deeper meaning bomb at the box office, and publications that share positive news don’t get traffic. What does this say about us, the voters and consumers? It’s that we want to do what’s easy, but expect others to do what is difficult. Can one have the cake and eat it too?
Betterment results from better actions, not words. It comes when we vote for hardworking leaders, stop watching movies that reinforce negative stereotypes, and give our precious clicks to media platforms that share legit news (even if they’re not the first or the spiciest).
Such behavior may not change the world, but it will change you. And that’s what your journey is about—to evolve, to get mukti, and to be useful to others along the way.
