“Do not be miserable. Do not repent! What is done is done. If you burn yourself, [take the consequences] . . . We make mistakes; what of that?”
— Swami Vivekananda
Someone you trusted hurt you. Overconfidence in a situation led to a terrible loss for you. Or you did some questionable things about 10 years ago and still regret it to this day.
What is all this pain and regret doing for you? Can it undo the harm, the loss, or your actions? No. Instead, it is pushing you into a shell. To the point where you’ll stop trusting anyone including yourself. Each mistake you make is just making you feel weaker.
All that will happen if this continues is that you will end up a broken, lost person. Is that how you want to live the rest of your life?
What’s done is done; there is no use crying over spilt milk. No matter how grave, every mistake is a step towards betterment. If you choose to learn from it, this is, instead of wallowing in it.
