“Fortune is like a flirt, she cares not for him who wants her, but she is at the feet of him who does not care for her. Money comes and showers itself upon one who does not care about it. . . They always come to the Master. . . he who can live in spite of them, whose life does not depend upon the little foolish things of the world.” — Swami Vivekananda
If there is one thing we have more than ever today, it is control. We can listen to songs on loop, watch series on demand, and work out of anywhere in our pajamas.
Ironically, such control has made us weaker. We’ve become slaves to the approval of our masters: wealth, power, and status. As soon as these masters bless someone else, we’re miserable. In other words, we should focus on action (karma), but we’re trapped in the rewards (fal) that we think we deserve.
Luck rarely shows up magically at our doorstep. (If she does, she disappears just as quickly.) She only stays when we combine dharma (the right decisions and actions) with gyana (knowledge).
You can pray that luck smiles on you. Or you can do the right thing at the right time, turn into a Master, and render luck unnecessary.
