“For a haughty person, education, wealth and family reputation are tools of arrogance. The same education, wealth, and family reputation serve as tools of self-restraint for a person of wisdom.” — Vidur Niti
The son of a celebrity gets arrested for possession of drugs, while the son of another celebrity wins a gold medal at the Olympics. Both boys are similar in age, status, and access to wealth and education.
But one boy probably used his education, wealth, and family reputation as tools to indulge excessively in kāma (pleasure). The other used the same tools to pursue intrinsic growth and realize purushārtha (the objective of life).
As Ami Ganatra writes in Mahabharata Unravelled II, “A tool is only as good as its user.”
You have a decent amount (if not a lot) of wealth, education, and family reputation. Use them to pursue other means that help you grow.
