The Secret Key to Unlocking Knowledge

“How has all the knowledge in the world been gained but by the concentration of the powers of the mind?… The more concentrated it is, the more power is brought to bear on one point.”

— Swami Vivekananda

When Bill Gates and Warren Buffett were asked to write the key ingredient to their respective successes, they both wrote the same word: focus. Neither had set out to build behemoths of companies; they just focused on “what had to be done” at each moment.

Everyone has the ability to focus like Gates and Buffett. Sadly, most of us waste it on the trivial. To achieve a goal that makes you proud, you need ekāgratā (one-pointedness). Then the opinions of others, the fear of failure, or any form or negativity will find no place in your mind.

Do what has to be done rather than what you want to do. (The difference in both may appear subtle, but it’s vast in reality.) The results will compound exponentially over time.
